For more than 20 years I have been working as a Psychologist, ranging from Clinical Practice, Organisational Consulting, Learning and Development, Academia, and the not-for-profit sector. My research interests are in the area of fatherhood, including fathers’ use of humour in their homes, work-life integration and the benefits to child development. I completed my doctorate investigating the importance of relationship closeness between fathers and their children, and barriers to father involvement.

I am especially passionate about advocacy for better physical and mental well-being amongst men, and have been sought out as a key note speaker on topics usually such as relationships, fatherhood, and men’s mental health

In my spare time I enjoy family time with my wife and partner of 25 years, Michelle and our four children. I am a lover of music, cooking, bushwalking and travel. I am also proud be a member of an award winning a 'Capella singing group, Monday Nights.

Why I created this newsletter;

Producing a newsletter like this is an act of compassion for others, and of self-development for me personally and professionally. Let me explain.

This newsletter represents my ambition to find another medium, other than in the therapy room, to share these resources with others to help contribute to the alleviation of suffering in our society. For myself, the comfort of the therapy room has in some ways been a safe place for me. Writing or authoring publicly available material is new territory, and a domain I have shied away from due to my own fears and sense of inadequacy. Much like any fear, the only way to conquer or overcome is through acts of bravery or courage. So I am writing as one who is compassionate for others and want to assist, yet I also am revelling in a selfish ambition of discovery, improvement and personal growth as a writer and communicator.

The mission of the Dad Series;

The hope of this newsletter is that it will reach dads, and those who care about fathering, who are looking for evidence-based, and tried and true methods to improve the lives of children through better fathering. I also hope to support dads in this important role, and provide resources to assist with issues such as mental health and relationships.

Why subscribe?

There is a reciprocal benefit to being a subscriber; you are welcome to read what I believe are helpful resources and guides on fathering. In return, I get the benefit of your feedback and appreciation. So, it’s a ‘win:win’ newsletter 😊

Once a week I will post an article that will only take 5 mins of your time to read and share. I will also vary my posts with video messages on occasion. My posts will include helpful references and resources.
